At Bertie and Belle, we’ve always believed that getting a haircut should be a joyful experience not a stressful one.
But for many families with children who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), a trip to the salon can feel anything but easy. The bright lights, loud noises, tight schedules, and unfamiliar sensations can be overwhelming. We’ve listened to those families. And now, we’re doing something about it.
Our SEND Day is a brand-new initiative at Bertie and Belle created especially for children who need a little extra time, support, and love.
We’re proud to offer a dedicated day where the environment is softer, appointments are longer, and every child is treated with the patience and care they deserve.
Because we believe every child should leave their haircut smiling — and maybe holding a balloon.
Over the years, we’ve heard from so many parents who felt nervous about bringing their child for a haircut. They worried about meltdowns, discomfort, and whether they’d feel judged or rushed.
That’s not how a haircut should feel.
SEND Day is our way of saying: We see you. We understand. We’re here to help.
With longer slots and a calming atmosphere, we give children the time they need to feel safe and the space to enjoy the experience in their own way.
SEND Day is launching soon at Bertie and Belle Keynsham, and we expect spaces to fill quickly.
That’s why we’ve opened a waiting list for parents who’d like to be among the first to book.
You’ll be the first to know when appointments go live — no spam, just support.
